Writers are taught to get multiple opinions on their work before publishing or submitting. This helps them gauge their audience’s reaction and to catch things like ineffective storylines. They don’t sound like editors; they sound like readers.
What is group beta reading?
When multiple beta readers are reading your book at once. In our service, you get 3 or 5 beta reports from industry professionals within five weeks. Our readers are reviewers, librarians, booksellers, book bloggers, book marketers, editors, and authors, and they all specialize in different genres.
Our final beta reading document will include three or five beta letters of at least 650+ words each. They address you directly and share what they consider to be the most important big-picture positives and negatives of your book. Each report includes a star rating out of five as if the book was published today, and you are free to ask up to three questions for the beta readers to address in their letters. All letters are sent together so that writers can recognize if everyone is commenting on the same issue.
When should you hire IBR beta readers?
You can hire beta readers at any point after you finish a manuscript.
If it’s an early draft, we’d love to take a look at it. We’ll probably mention a few things that you’re already aware of, but we’ll also help you recognize additional issues that you can fix before entering drafts two or three.
If it’s a near-final draft, send that over too. Our team is skilled in recognizing narrative and character inconsistencies, lulls in the plot-line, missing motivations, and more.
Rates & turnaround time
